FASTEN YOUR SEAT-BELTS
I’m going to take up a subject which has been playing on my mind for a
long time. It’s about the so-called “weaker sex”. I don’t know when this rather
anomalous definition came into use. It certainly doesn’t tally with most of the
ladies I’ve met in my life. That’s another chapter.
The subject I want to take up is the dubbing of certain
females with the title “slut”, “whore” or “loose”. I am referring mainly to
young lads, who, having “had their way” with young ladies, they then go around
the community rubbishing these unfortunate young girls’ reputations. It’s seems
quite acceptable for young bucks to “sow their seeds” willy nilly. My own
experience tells me that there must be someone to “sow them in”. This pleasant
exercise has traditionally been done with women. Of course, nowadays there are
all sorts of “variations” The sad thing about dubbing the female with such a
contemptible title is that it can sometimes stick, as in the expression “give a
dog a bad name” This can have untold consequences for the normal development of
a young lady and her future happiness. Some of these women may be someone we
know/love/like. As suggested above, it often enhances the reputation of a young
lad.
I was prompted to write this because I recently
overheard some young men talking derisorily about a young lady. I brought the
subject up with a lady I know and she agreed that it was quite common among
young boys to refer to girls in this way and often, oddly enough, when the girl
said “no”. Rejection, in other words.
I would now like to suggest that we on facebook, take a
strong stance on this regrettable state of affairs. Let’s go for zero
tolerance. If we men are going to call ourselves “proper men” then we must
start treating our womenfolk like “proper” ladies.
